What did 1960s jerseys look like?
The last decade of flannel baseball and the first of real television money, which pushed teams toward colors that read on screen. Basketball and football stayed on durene and early nylon mesh. Fits were trimmer than the 1950s but nothing like the tailoring that came later.
This is the decade the leagues stopped being small. The AFL launched in 1960 and ran as a rival league until the 1970 merger, so an AFL jersey is a ten-year window by definition. The NHL doubled from six teams to twelve in 1967, and baseball expanded twice. Player names began appearing on backs during the decade, starting with the 1960 White Sox. An AFL crest is therefore a hard pre-1970 marker on its own, and several AFL clubs changed name or city inside the decade, which narrows a shirt further than the logo alone suggests.
