Privacy policy
Last updated July 16, 2026
The short version: no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking cookies. The only personal data we keep is the email address you give the newsletter, and you can take that back any time.
Who we are
YearJersey (yearjersey.com) is run by Patrik Hudy, a private individual based in Hungary, who is the data controller for anything described here. Contact for anything privacy-related: [email protected].
The newsletter
If you sign up for the jersey wire, we store your email address plus the year, league, and team you were browsing when you signed up, so the weekly email can match your hunt. Signup is double opt-in: nothing is sent until you click the confirmation link. The legal basis is your consent.
Your address is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database and emails are delivered through Resend. It is never sold, shared, or used for anything except the newsletter. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link; unsubscribing stops all sending immediately. If you want the record erased entirely rather than just deactivated, email us and we delete it.
What we don't collect
There are no user accounts, no advertising, no analytics scripts, and no tracking cookies. YearJersey sets no cookies of its own. Browsing the site requires giving us nothing.
The site stores one small flag in your browser's localStorage to remember that you closed or completed the newsletter popup, so it stops nagging you. That flag never leaves your browser.
Hosting and server data
The site runs on Cloudflare Pages. Like any host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and protect against abuse; we rely on legitimate interest for that. We use the country Cloudflare derives from your connection for exactly one thing: picking the eBay marketplace closest to you (eBay.de for Germany, eBay.co.uk for the UK, and so on). We do not store it.
Fonts are served from this site rather than from Google Fonts, so displaying text sends your IP address to nobody but our host. One third-party request remains on results pages: the listing photos are loaded straight from eBay's image servers, which means eBay sees your IP address for those images under eBay's privacy notice. We do this so we are never storing or re-hosting sellers' photographs. The home page also shows badges from the startup directories that list us, and those images load from the directories' own servers, so each of them sees your IP address for its badge. Everywhere else on the site, including this page, loads nothing from anyone but us.
eBay links
Jersey results link to eBay with our eBay Partner Network affiliate ID attached. Once you click through, you are on eBay and eBay's privacy notice applies; eBay may set cookies on its own site to attribute the referral. We never learn who clicked or who bought — commission reports reach us only as anonymous totals.
Price history
We record aggregate market statistics (the median asking price for a search on a given day) to show price trends. These contain no personal data of any kind.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us for access to your data, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, or to withdraw consent at any time. Since the only thing we hold is a newsletter record, most requests are answered by deleting it, which we will do promptly. Email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority, or to the Hungarian authority, the NAIH (naih.hu).
Processors
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, and database storage.
- Resend — newsletter email delivery.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. We won't quietly start collecting more than what's described here.
